Southbound: 2:15 PM

Glacier boots are provided.

Featured on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, nothing compares to the ageless wonder and icy vistas of one of North America’s largest ice fields. Feeding the hundreds of glaciers that flow from it, the Juneau Icefield is a scene right out of the ice age . From your awe-inspiring seat in the sky to your professionally guided glacier walk, this is Juneau’s #1 rated sightseeing tour. Come travel with Alaska’s most experienced glacier helicopter touring company on this exquisite adventure. Arrive at the TEMSCO heliport and meet your experienced pilot and courteous attendants. Our staff enjoys sharing their experiences and knowledge of the area with visitors. You’ll be fitted for special “glacier-walk” boots and receive a comprehensive safety briefing before boarding a modern, five to six passenger, turbine helicopter for take-off. Flying high above wetland habitat, alpine ridges and lush rain forests, you’ll gain new appreciation for this rugged land as your pilot shares a lively narrative. As you approach the icefield and its many glaciers you’ll marvel at the twisted spires, deep blue crevasses and carved peaks that make up this ancient landscape. Soaring even higher, you may pass the Mendenhall Towers – jagged rock sentinels that climb more than 7,000 feet – and the spectacular icefalls that overflow to form the Mendenhall Glacier. View icefalls, spires and the many hanging glaciers suspended on the surrounding mountainsides before a gentle landing on this slowly moving river of ice. As you explore the glacier’s surface with our expert glacier guides, you will understand how glaciers form, flow and carve out the rugged landscape. Become skilled at identifying moraines, mill streams and crevasses as you discover the geological processes that created these majestic landforms. As you depart for a thrilling flight over the icefield and the Mendenhall Glacier, you’ll know that you’ve experienced something special – walking on water, viewing ancient sights, having touched nature’s beauty in a way few ever will. Upon your return, enjoy complimentary beverages as you reminisce about the experience you just encountered. It’s the Mendenhall Glacier by Helicopter & Guided Walk with TEMSCO Helicopters – the most insightful exploration of a true Alaskan experience. Due to increased security, no carry-on bags will be allowed on the helicopters.
A secure location will be provided at the office for storing personal items.

McGinnis. The itinerary is flexible; your pilot is free to create the best possible tour under the current weather and glacier conditions. For an up-close opportunity to appreciate this ancient landscape, your pilot will land in two different locations, where you will continue the tour on foot! During these two landings you will learn about the geological and environmental processes at work creating moraines, crevasses, seracs, and the glaciers themselves. Due to increased security, no carry-on bags will be allowed on the helicopters. A secure location will be provided at the office for storing personal items.

Salmon Fishing   $189
PLUS $30 for Fishing Licenses

Approximately 4 Hours

7:30 AM or 12:00 PM Northbound Only

Lack of commercial fishing combined with modern day environmental efforts, like raising hatchery salmon for release into the wild, makes Skagway a prime Alaskan destination.

Included: transfers and full gear, tackle and bait are provided.

Unlike many other Alaskan fishing destinations, the fish are a VERY short ride from the harbor, often less than 15 minutes away. More time with the lines in the water mean more of a chance to make that catch of a lifetime. Captain Greg provides all the gear, bait and know-how to make a Skagway Salmon Fishing Charter an experience one does not forget. Captain Greg believes that when anglers pay good money to go on a fishing charter, they want to "fish." Many an angler has been frustrated with charter captains who do all the fishing themselves and treat the customer like a child who has never held a rod of his own.  With Dockside Charters, the client decides how much or little he or she wants to participate in the fish catching process. You can bait your own hook, or even bring your own favorite gear. You can hook the fish and fight them to the boat. Captain Greg will give you the necessary hints and pointers to make your day a success. If you are not as savvy with the rod and reel, he will do as much as you want him to do to aid and assist you to make your Skagway salmon fishing charter an unforgettable experience. Skagway Salmon fishing charters primarily focus on the renowned Chinook or King Salmon. Salt-water fishing for kings is practiced by slow-tolling a herring rigged to turn in the current as though it were injured. Big kings find this motion irresistible and strike at these presentations with wild abandon. Kings will peel line from the reel as they run away with tremendous speed. Many a wily salmon will turn and make a run at the boat forcing the fisherman to reel furiously in order to keep the line taught. State of the art fish finding equipment allows Captain Greg to target the proper depths where salmon feed on "bait balls," schools of baitfish so large and tightly packed that salmon assault the cluster for an easy meal.  Captain Greg also offers a service for shipping your catch to be smoked and sent just about anywhere via mail, so bragging about catching a big Alaskan king can include a fine dinner for family and friends back home. Two summer runs of king salmon make Skagway king salmon fishing charters productive throughout the summer months. Captain Greg has over 15 years experience fishing the waters around Skagway and knows the subtleties of fishing its deep glacier carved fjords. Typically, Skagway king salmon fishing charters employ both trolling and mooching for Chinooks depending on the running depth of the fish. Full gear, tackle and bait are provided, as are the advice on handling the gear to ensure success. Skagway king salmon fishing charters offer an Alaskan fishing adventure at its best.
