Historical City Tour
Experience Skagway with Alaska’s original city historical tour to ‘All Points of Interest’ - an informative and fun-filled 90 minutes. Skagway character Martin Itjen came north looking for Klondike gold in 1898, and instead became the town’s most celebrated storyteller. The first passenger Martin took on his Skagway Street Car tour was US President Warren G. Harding. Back then, in 1923, he claimed that there was "nothing like it in the world" and he went on to delight visitors with his motorized sightseeing tour and tall tales for many decades. Today, Martin’s tour lives on in Skagway. You’ll board your bus and sit back and relax as your driver passes on a century of history, behind-the-scenes tales, and stories of life in small town Alaska. Explore the waterfront and National Park Historic District; enjoy the panoramic views from the scenic overlook; and have your camera ready for the re-telling of Soapy Smith’s gunfight at the Gold Rush Cemetery. To capture the history of this gold rush town and the pioneer families that built it, you will motor through the residential neighborhoods of Skagway.
